2018-2019 MPH Student Scholarship and Award Winners
The John B. Waller and Menthele (Mikki) Waller Endowed Scholarship was awarded to MPH student, Avis Randle at the 3rd Annual Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences Research Day. Dr. Waller was a well-known public health leader, and as Chair of the WSU Department of Community Medicine, had the foresight to establish the Master of Public Health Program. Ms. Randle works as an adoption case worker who facilitates adoptions for children and families. She credits her mother with instilling in her the important of education and service.
MD/MPH Candidate, Blake Sanford, won the 2019 MPH Student Essay Contest award for his essay titled, "Policy Must Treat Addiction as a Disease, Not a Crime." Mr. Sanford was awarded $500, contributed by an anonymous donor. The theme for the 2019 Student Essay Contest was "Creating the Healthiest Nation: For science. For action. For health."
