Biography

Dr. Jamil uses the knowledge he gained from 38 years of experience in occupational & environmental health to promote a healthy and safe working and everyday living environment. He is also active in local, national and international research conducted by the division. He successfully builds research collaborations with local community non-profit organizations and academic institutes at the international level, in particular among Middle East countries. He also works as a project coordinator to the MINH study entitled Mental health in Iraqi refugees: Importance of post-displacement social stressors from 2010-2014. He also worked as Co-investigator to a study entitled The Stress Resiliency program aimed at strengthening Iraqi refugee's potential employability from 2011-2012.

Primary Research Interests fall in three areas:

  • Iraqi refugees and immigrant health disorders
  • the impact of environmental exposure on the health of the people and;
  • the impact of water-pipe (hookah) smoking on the health of smokers at the level of local, national and international
