Welcome Sarah Donaldson and Hillary Bruce, new Admin Staff
This spring the Family Medicine department gained two new administrative staff members, Sarah Donaldson, the new Practicum and Community Engagement Coordinator, and Hillary Bruce, the new administrative assistant.
Sarah Donaldson recently joined the Master of Public Health program and DFMPHS as the Practicum and Community Engagement Coordinator. Sarah grew up in St. Clair County and in 2015 obtained their Bachelor of Arts in English language and literature at Grand Valley State. Before joining the DFMPHS in April 2024, Sarah spent 2021-2024 working as a private-sector emergency management contractor in South Carolina and Florida. For over a year, Sarah acted as project manager and community engagement coordinator for COVID-19 mobile vaccination unit logistics with South Carolina's Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). Sarah was deployed when Hurricane Ian made landfall in Florida in 2022 and served as Planning Section Chief for the All-Hazards Incident Management Team (AHIMT) Coordination branch of the Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM). Once de-mobilized, Sarah spent much of 2022-2024 working on public assistance and mutual aid reimbursements related to Hurricanes Ian and Idalia response and recovery. Sarah's interests are arts and crafts, mutual aid, trauma-informed care, running, and gardening.
Hillary Bruce joined our department at the end of April as our new Administrative Assistant, taking over for Judy Magdalenic who recently retired. Hillary comes to us with a strong background in administrative support, having most recently served the City of Ann Arbor. Since joining Wayne State, she has thoroughly enjoyed her time here and is looking forward to getting to know everyone in the department. Please reach out to Hillary if you require any assistance or have any inquiries. She is here to support you and contribute to the continued success of our department.
