Population Health faculty offers inaugural Interprofessional Education course

One of our Population Health Division members, Dennis Tsilimingras, MD, MPH, is directing a new course called, Interprofessional Education.  Health professional students in the areas of advanced practice will be engaged in team-based learning with students from the Colleges/Schools of Nursing, Pharmacy, Medicine, Social Work and Physician Assistant Studies. The course allows students to learn about, from and with each other, how each discipline contributes to the healthcare team, the importance of effective communication, the role of team collaboration and preparing health care professionals for collaborative practice with a focus on clinical decision making in interdisciplinary teams.

The inaugural course is currently being conducted with a total of 17 diverse health professional students including MPH Program students who may take this course as an elective option.
