Biography

Dr. Xu is a board-certified family physician with an MS degree in clinical research design and statistical analysis. She is a member of the Division of Population Health Sciences, and faculty in the MPH graduate program. She is also a member of the Population Studies and Prevention Program at the Karmanos Cancer Institute and currently on the editorial board for the Journal of Family Practice.

Her clinical practice serves a diverse patient population including White, African-Americans and Asians, in particular Chinese. Dr. Xu's research interests include primary care, cancer control and prevention, and helping patients make more informed decisions. She recently completed a 5-year study on racial disparities in prostate cancer treatment decision-making funded by the American Cancer Society. She enjoys teaching both medical students and residents in clinical medicine in the ambulatory setting.
