Division of Behavioral Sciences Works Together In spite of COVID-19

The shutdown of face-to-face human subject research in the wake of COVID-19 meant that researchers have had to be creative to continue with study recruitment.  Dr. April Carcone and Dr. Deborah Ellis have worked collaboratively with the BERD core within the IBio Clinical Research Center to overcome these barriers by creating an electronic study informed consent module using REDCap. REDCap is a secure web platform for building and managing online databases and surveys. When used with Zoom, the new REDCap consent module has allowed Dr. Carcone and Ellis to continue recruiting study participants in a comfortable, secure environment that meets all IRB requirements and is well received by community members.  A presentation on this topic was made to the Division of Behavioral Sciences in February and a recording may be obtained by contacting Amanda Compton (acompton@med.wayne.edu).
