This year Wayne State University School of Medicine had an historic 100% success match rate for the 2023 NRMP (National Resident Matching Program). That means that all 266 students that applied through the NRMP were accepted to a residency position during the regular matching process and the Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) combined. Normally, there are about 6 to 7% of students nationally who do not match through the regular process and must apply for a residency position through the alternative matching system called SOAP which is not a guarantee of acceptance.
