Accelerated Master’s Pathway Program

AMP

The MPH Program is now participating in the Accelerated Master’s Pathway Program (AMP) instead of AGRADE. Through AMP, talented undergraduate students in all majors may complete up to 5  MPH courses (15 credits), saving time and money. 

Benefits to AMP:

  • Save Money:
    • Pay undergraduate tuition rates for up to 15 MPH graduate credits (5 courses) 
    • Double-count AMP courses for undergraduate and MPH degree graduate credit.
      • All undergraduate majors may double-count MPH AMP classes for general elective credit.  
      • BSPH majors and minors may double-count MPH AMP courses for BSPH elective credit. 
  • Save Time: 
    • If you complete all five AMP classes, you may be able to complete the MPH degree in three semesters. Three semester completion is only available when admittted to the MPH Program during specific semesters and for specific concentrations. Talk to your MPH AMP advisor for more information.

Eligibility:

  • Apply to AMP during the semester you complete 75 credits, usually during the second semester of your sophomore year. You should have junior standing during your first semester as an AMP student.
  • You must also have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.3 at a minimum and a minimum grade B in an undergraduate algebra or statistics course. 

AMP First Steps: 

  • Make an appointment to meet with your undergraduate advisor to verify your eligibility and to make sure that AMP is a good fit for you. Ask your advisor to develop a locked Degree Works undergraduate plan of work to verify that there is room in your schedule for AMP courses.
  • E-mail MPH Program Coordinator Matt Irelan (ai7823@wayne.edu) to discuss your interest in AMP.
  • Once you have completed these steps, the application process is easy! You will apply to AMP at https://gradschool.wayne.edu/amp

AMP Admission Deadlines

  • Fall Semester: August 1
  • Winter Semester: November 1
  • Spring Summer Semester: April 1

 

MPH AMP Courses (15 credit hours) 

  • FPH 7011 Foundations of Public Health (3 cr.) 
  • FPH 7012 Social Justice in Public Health (3 cr.) 
  • FPH 7015 Biostatistics (3 cr.)
  • FPH 7100 Health Care Organization & Administration (3 cr.)
  • FPH 7240 Epidemiology (3 cr.)

Note that AMP students must apply and be formally admitted to the MPH Program. Usually, students apply during their last undergraduate semester.

A maximum of five MPH AMP students will be admitted each semester during AY 2025-2026.
